General model history:
The Mercedes-Benz 300 S was built from 1951 to 1958 as the exclusive flagship model of the Mercedes-Benz brand and was regarded in the 1950s as one of the most prestigious and high-quality vehicles of its time. The model was offered as a coupé, Cabriolet A, and roadster. Technically based on the famous “Adenauer” Mercedes Type 300, the 300 S featured significantly more luxurious interior trim as well as a sportier and more elegant body.
The car was powered by a smooth-running 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine equipped with three Solex carburetors. With an output of 150 hp, the 300 S was one of the most powerful German production cars of the early 1950s. Power was transmitted via a fully synchronized 4-speed manual transmission.
Mercedes-Benz placed particular emphasis on comfort, craftsmanship, and exclusivity. The bodies were meticulously handcrafted, while fine materials such as high-quality leather, real wood, and chrome underscored the vehicle’s luxurious character. Today, the Cabriolet A is regarded as one of the most elegant open-top body styles of the postwar era and ranks among the most sought-after classic Mercedes models of all time.
With only 203 units ever built, the 300 S Cabriolet A is now one of the rarest and most valuable post-war models from Mercedes-Benz. Vehicles with a traceable history, original paintwork, and unrestored condition are extremely hard to find.
Explicit data about this car:
The car is second-hand and has never left Milan since it was delivered. Around 1980, the second owner parked it in the garage, where it has remained ever since, and it has not been driven since then.
The vehicle retains its original paint and chassis number and is exceptionally well-preserved and authentic. Particularly noteworthy is the condition of the original leather interior, which remains very beautiful and supple even after more than 70 years.
The rare original Tundra Green paint job has suffered some wear over the years, as have parts of the wood trim in the interior. After more than 40 years of inactivity, the car is in need of a complete overhaul.
