Description:
The 1949 Jeep Willys Overland Wagon 4×4 is a remarkable classic and one of the first SUVs. Equipped with a 4-cylinder flathead engine, 3-speed manual transmission, gear reduction and selectable four-wheel drive. This model is rare as it is the first year with the reintroduced four-wheel drive and the last year with the typical flat Jeep radiator grille and “Willys Overland” lettering.
Condition and restoration:
The car is largely original with great patina and still partly the original paint. The interior is in good condition. The floor panel needs to be replaced and the new rear side panels are not yet welded. Mechanically, the car is in good condition, the carburetor and brakes are new, and the transmission shifts perfectly. US and EU customs papers are available. Location is Steyr, Upper Austria, test drive possible.
Historical significance:
The 1949 Jeep Wagon was one of the first true SUVs, combining utility and comfort. Today it is a coveted collector's item and a symbol of the robust reliability of the Jeep brand.
